One of the few successful Butler “early teams” was the 1954-55 team. They were coached by John Ifft and ended the season with a 19-4 record. In those days only the section champion went to the playoffs. Butler tied Ford City for 1st place in the section but lost a special section playoff game to Ford City 56-49.

Meet John Graham who in 1955 broke the Butler High record of most points in a game(55), most points for a season, most points for a career(753) and most field goals. He was also on Section I All-Star team. John is currently 17th on the Butler career scoring records. You will still see John around town especially at the Geibel Funera Home.
